Our Stay @ Tully (Tully Caravan Park)
TULLY CARAVAN PARK - TULLY - DJIRBALNGAN LAND
We wanted to break up our drive between Townsville and Cairns. Originally we were thinking Mission Beach but we had spent so long on the coast so Tully became the choice. Known for high rainfall and sugar production, Tully is a small town 140km south of Cairns.
The caravan park is a simple one, not a lot to it, with neat rows of sites. Despite the known high rainfall we were lucky enough to enjoy a break in the rain with an overnight stay in stunning weather and sunset.
Now for the ABC4 review… (A = positives, B = unique/special, C = needs improvement, 4 = rating, ✅ = additional tip)
[ A ] amenities block. It’s brand new! Well at least it is pretty new… if you have been reading our reviews for a while now you will see that most places we go to have tired, old amenity blocks so when we get to experience one that is relatively new it really is an exciting change (oh how our life has changed).
[ B ] location. The park is located just on the edge of town, very close to the giant gumboot and the Tully Sugar mill. It feels unique because you have to cross the sugar cane railway to enter!
[ C ] amenities. You can see that the park has had a lot of improvements in recent times. New plantations along the rows of sites and the already mentioned amenity block. The closest I could come for a improvement suggestion is redoing the access roads between the sites. By all means, it’s not that cars and vans couldn’t handle the roads. But less jagged edges and pot holes make for happier kids with their bikes and scooters.
[ 4 ] 3 out of 4. Don’t expect anything fancy, but the Tully Caravan Park isn’t trying to be fancy. What it does well is being a simple caravan park and we enjoyed our one night stay.
💰 $30 a night. For an unpowered site with water hookup.

📌 I can see that the sites have been updated since we’ve been. Our unpowered site is now a powered site! P38, as it is now known, was the site we stayed on.
