Our Stay @ Cairns (BIG 4 Ingenia Holidays Cairns Coconut)

Welcome to the, always a mouthful, BIG4 Ingenia Cairns Coconut resort!

Welcome to the, always a mouthful, BIG4 Ingenia Cairns Coconut resort!

BIG4 INGENIA HOLIDAYS CAIRNS COCONUT - CAIRNS - YIDINJDJI LAND

You’ve got to admit, this resort park has one mouthful of a name!

We enjoyed our stay at this park twice, with a 6 night stretch on our first visit and then a 4 night stay on our return before heading west.

This park is the absolute definition of resort-style parks. It is a kids paradise with everything from mini-golf course, two pools - one with waterslides, a splash park (more slides!), two jumping pillows under shade and a large playground. There are also spas for the adults in the pool sections. There’s a very tropical feel with palms throughout the park and all different options of accommodation from different cabin styles to different types of ensuite van sites down to simple slab and grass sites.

Now for the ABC4 review… (A = positives, B = unique/special, C = needs improvement, 4 = rating, ✅ = additional tip)

[ A ] facilities. You cannot go past the amount of facilities available at Cairns Coconut. From all of the above mentioned areas plus the awesome cafe and shop that also has a liquor license, including takeaways. Oh and there’s happy hour between 4-5pm each day plus pancake Thursdays which is VERY popular, so be warned.

[ B ] facilities. Not only is it the positives it’s also unique in this level of facilities available at the park. No other resort style park that we have visited had this level and type of facilities.

[ C ] amenities block. There is only one amenities block in this large park. While likely due to the amount of cabins and sites with ensuites, our first site was over 200m from the amenities so when you need a quick run to the loo, we were definitely choosing the carvan’s toilet over the park’s amenities. The amenities are also in need of an update and I did not enjoy the fixed, small water heads for the showers.

[ 4 ] 3 out of 4. Definitely worth staying if you have kids and certainly worth a look even if you don’t. We did see quite a few couples enjoy the park’s features even without kids!

💰 $30 a night. For an unpowered site with water hookup.

✅ When giving the park the size of your caravan or rig, it is worth giving them an undersized figure. At our first site, we were lined up with the big rigs - large buses and triple axle vans, because supposedly they were the only sites that could fit our setup. We could have put two of our vans on our site. The second site (concrete slab) supposedly wouldn’t fit the length according to their booking system but it was more than big enough.

📌 First site was BS4C in the big rig section. Site 173 was our second site a great concrete slab site in amongst the palms.
