GOLD COAST TOURIST PARKS - KIRRA BEACH - BUNDJALUNG LAND

We stayed 7 nights at the Kirra Beach Tourist Park. Sadly, we only had a few daylight hours of sun during the entire week which I am sure reflects on the review. This is a large park located near (basically next door) to the Gold Coast Airport and up against the NSW border. It’s only about 400 metres to Kirra Beach and we did find the location handy with easy access to the motorway to take us north.

Now for the ABC4 review… (A = positives, B = unique/special, C = needs improvement, 4 = rating, ✅= additional tip)

[ A ] the staff. We really found the staff at Kirra Beach Tourist Park exceptionally friendly and helpful. There’s takeaway coffee available at reception and most mornings a coffee was purchased here.

[ B ] the location. Unique location? Maybe I am stretching it a little, but a dog friendly caravan park on the Gold Coast with an airport on its doorstep and easy access to the motorway makes it unique enough in my book.

[ C ] “tiredness”. The park could do with a renovation. It’s what I deem a “resort style” park, as it should be given location, but still has that run-down feel of an older caravan park. With an injection of $$$ this place would be A+.

[ 4 ] 2 out of 4. It would be interesting how I would rate this park if we had days of decent weather. But with the rain and tiredness of the park I don’t feel like I could improve the rating beyond “middle of the road” 2 out of 4. But if you need a dog friendly caravan park on the southern end of the Gold Coast, then this is your place!

💰 $44 per night. A reasonable rate for a powered slab site for a week at this location.

✅ Make sure you explore the area more than heading up to Surfers Paradise. Nearby Coolangatta & Snapper Rocks are well worth a visit as is the boundary between QLD & NSW which runs down the middle of the town centre. I am not sure how many places have a feature quite like it.
