Our Stay @ Hervey Bay (Discovery Holiday Parks - Fraser Street)
DISCOVERY PARKS - FRASER STREET HERVEY BAY - BADTJALA LAND
We really enjoyed our two night stay here and could have stayed longer. This caravan park is in the heart of Hervey Bay (Torquay to be exact) and goes up against a lot of competition in the area (there were caravan parks everywhere). It is definitely what I would call a resort style park with two pools, a lake and plenty of kid friendly activities.
Now for the ABC4 review… (A = positives, B = unique/special, C = needs improvement, 4 = rating, ✅= additional tip)
[ A ] large and private site. The powered grass site we had was nice and wide and very private with palms and ferns surrounding most of the site.
[ B ] turtles galore. In the lake that centres the park there are so many turtles! You simply need to walk to the side of the lake and you will see a wave of little turtle heads poking above the water coming towards you.
[ C ] amenities block. We were at the back of the park and the amenities block needs some love. Great to see what looked like new toilets but certainly the showers need refreshing and some additional water pressure would be nice 🙂
[ 4 ] 2.5 out of 4. I was originally going to mark it 3 out of 4 as we definitely could have stayed here longer. But when I compare this park against other 3 out of 4 parks I couldn’t quite get there. That means it’s time to break out the decimal mark as it’s better than a 2 out of 4 park.
💰 $45 per night. We stayed 2 nights, reasonable for a powered site.
📌 we stayed on site 223

✅ The Urangan Pier is worth a visit, stretching 850 metres out into Hervey Bay - but sadly not dog friendly. If you love craft beer then the easy walk from the park to Crafty Cargo Taphouse is a must and it is dog friendly when sitting out the front or down the side of the bar.
