Our Stay @ Iluka (Clarence Head Holiday Park)
KUI PARKS - CLARENCE HEAD CARAVAN PARK - YAEGL LAND
We stopped at Iluka for a few nights and stayed at the Clarence Head Caravan Park. Iluka is Aboriginal for ‘by the sea’ and is at the head of the Clarence River, reportedly the largest river flowing to the eastern coast of Australia.
Now for the ABC4 review… (A = positives, B = unique/special, C = needs improvement, 4 = rating, ✅= additional tip)
[ A ] the quaintness! Is this park well equipped with the latest play equipment, sealed roads, modern amenities, etc? No. But what it lacks in those departments it makes up for in its cuteness and uniqueness. From the mural on the side of the reception to the ones on the amenities block to the old school permanent sites in the park, this place is quaint!
[ B ] the pool/spa. I was glad to read that this park has a pool and our 3yo absolutely loved it. It’s a small pool that absolutely covers all requirements, except maybe for swimming laps 🤣😂. At one end there’s even a spa that produces a good amount of bubbles for a few minutes each time you turn it on. I also loved that one end was shaded.
[ C ] tight spots. It took quite a few attempts to get our van on to our spot as it was very tight. Also, with the awning our van ends up being quite long and we had to scrape over our boundaries to fit. Not all sites are as tight as ours.
[ 4 ] 3 out of 4. Taking in this park's quirkiness we loved this park. It is old school but that’s what we loved.
💰 $34 per night. We stayed 3 nights and I consider this a bargain for a powered site.

✅ make sure you explore the surroundings and definitely catch the ferry over to Yamba for a day, if you have the time. There’s also a walk through heritage listed rainforest that can be accessed directly from the park or just up the road.
