DELICATE CAMPGROUND - CRESCENT HEAD - DAINGGATTI LAND

Our first off-grid experience since starting our Big Lap in March 2024. At this bush and beachside spot you've got to ensure you’re self contained, BYO water and electricity. Our van is more than adequately set up for off-grid life. We have 240 litres of fresh water storage and a 300ah lithium battery complete with inverter to charge/run nearly any electrical appliance. Alongside we have 400w of solar panels on the roof and I also have a 300w portable solar blanket for that additional ⚡️when needed or the van is in the shade. While we have our own toilet and shower in the van, the campground still has basic flushing toilets and a cold shower, using bore water, so not suitable for drinking.

Now for the ABC4 review… (A = positives, B = unique/special, C = needs improvement, 4 = rating, ✅ = additional tip)

[ A ] it’s dog friendly! Despite booking the campground via the National Parks website and being in a nature reserve that borders a National Park, this bush and beachside spot welcomes dogs! Scout had the time of his life with his favourite pastime, ball chasing. This place is highly recommended if you wanted to “rough it” at a beachside spot alongside your best friend 🐕

[ B ] the beach. When you are so used to caravan parks, anything off-grid is unique at first. What is special about this place is the closeness to the beach. It’s a very short walk to the stunning Goolawah beach (assumed name). I quite enjoyed walking out of the van in just my swimmers then straight into the water. Call it maybe 100 metres.

[ C ] picking a spot to camp. There’s no map and no markings here, you just have to figure out your spot. That made selecting a spot hard, not only for trying to find the best little hideaway for us, but also not restricting others from getting to their ideal spot!

[ 4 ] 3 out of 4. I’m conscious that I’ve got to rate a campground on its own merits. While this campground doesn’t have all the facilities, this is to be expected at a spot like this and it adds to the adventure.

💰 $25 per night. A great price but expected given it’s off-grid status.

📌 no allocated sites here!

📅 6th to 9th March 2024

✅ There are two entrances to this ground, with the first you come across when coming from Crescent Head is marked as North Delicate Campground. Make sure you check out both to find your ideal spot.
